  • Mô tả: The use of the Eiffel programming environment, and specifically the Basic Eiffel Libraries, to promote component-based software development is described. Eiffel includes seven libraries: the Kernel Library, the Support Library, the Data Structure Library, the Lexical Library, the Parsing Library, the Winpack Library and the Graphics Library. All seven combined hold 300 classes with about 5,000 visible operations, or features, although the number continues to grow rapidly. The libraries described here were developed by Interactive Software Engineering, but third-party developers have created several user interface toolkits and databases. Among the Eiffel techniques described are classes and clusters, assertions, the contract theory, bottom-up development, interface documentation and inheritance. Design issues are discussed as well.
