  • Mô tả: The cost-effective development of virtual environments depends upon the existence of development tools that can be used by content experts. Most of these content experts are non-programmers, so tools that require programming skills are inappropriate for this user group. Tools that allow content experts to design object geometry and behavior are beginning to appear, and this addresses the first phase of environment design. The other 2 phases, scene composition and narrative design, still have not been addressed by any of the existing tools, and form a fertile area for future research. The weakness of the current object design tools is behavior. The behavior design techniques used in JDCAD+ and similar tools are good for simple behaviors, but can be quite difficult for use for more complex ones. The development of better behavior design techniques that can be used by non-programmers is another important research area.
