  • Mô tả: Digital paper or flexible displays and E-Ink technologies are some of the organic user interface technologies that offers promising potentials for the development of sustainable practices in interaction design. Reading of an E-Ink displays owing to the bistability of the material can be done without use of energy. Digital paper preserves its state each time it is updated without the need for additional power. This seems to be a more important feature than the issue of the environmental cost of making, from the perspective of environmental sustainability. A second potential is related to the concept of books made up of digital papers as durable objects, that can be turned in to any book by means of an electronic update. A third potential is based on the possibilities for making displays that are more portable, cheaper, smaller and more pervasive. Pervasive, small, inexpensive displays, from a sustainability point of view may be an advantage to the degree that they build an infrastructure of modularity.
