  • Mô tả: Gold is a currency and it is a commodity whose price is watched closely in financial markets around the world. However, in the City of Gold, Dubai, it is an economic pillar where the daily valuation is particularly important. This paper considers the place that gold holds in the Dubai economy and the contribution that it makes to retail shopping and tourism. It draws on secondary research to relate the general importance of gold in a marketplace and refers to findings from various empirical studies conducted in Dubai with consumer respondents. Findings suggest that consumers' interest in gold is complex and adds economic value beyond the metal's currency relevance. For example, gold has ritual value that is embedded in some cultures leading consumers to purchase gold for reasons beyond investment.
